When I graduated from high school, I just didn't feel right about going to college. I didn't want to deal with the strict instructors, annoying student body, and frustrating curriculum. However, since I wanted a career, I decided that it might be smart to see about going to a trade school instead. I figured that I would be able to learn the same information, without all of the hassle that typically surrounds traditional college. I can't even begin to describe how right I was. I went to trade school to learn the art of HVAC, and I have developed a successful career.
If you already work in a nursing home but have not gone through medical assistant training, you might not think that it's necessary for you to do so. After all, since you already have a career in the medical field, it might not seem like it's necessary. However, even if you already work in a nursing home, going to school to become a medical assistant might be a good idea. A few reasons why you might be happy about making this decision are listed below.
1. Earn More Pay
Even though you might love the job that you do, you might not make as much money as you would like to make. If you go through medical assistant training and become a certified medical assistant, however, your current employer might be willing to give you a promotion and/or a raise. It might turn out to be a smart financial move for you and your family if you do go through this training.
2. Open Up Opportunities With Other Employers
If you would potentially be interested in changing jobs and working somewhere else, then going through medical assistant training might help you achieve that goal. Once you complete your training, you might qualify for various jobs in your area that you do not qualify for now. For example, medical assistants are often hired to work in assisted living facilities, doctor's offices, hospitals and more. With your training, you might even be able to look into a job as an in-home caregiver. The possibilities that might open up for you could be surprising if you complete this training.
3. Provide Better Care for Your Patients
Even if you choose to stay in the same job and even if you don't qualify for a pay raise right away, you might still find that going through the medical assistant program is well worth the cost and hassle for the simple fact that it can help you provide better care for your patients. After all, you might learn a lot in your training that can help you with handling and talking to patients, dealing with emergencies and more.
Even if you already have a job in a nursing home, this does not mean that you should give up on furthering your education. For example, going to school to become a certified medical assistant might be the right career path.
